James T. Bartlett
Director, Chairman of the Board
At the start of his extensive career, James T. Bartlett was an Associate and then Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co. Subsequently, he became a Partner-Founder of Dryden & Company, a private equity investment firm, and afterwards a Partner-Founder of Fernwood Associates, a private equity partnership investing in manufacturing companies in New England. Jim represented Fernwood Associates as a senior operating or financial person in a variety of companies. Next, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Acme-Cleveland Corporation, a Cleveland-based manufacturer of machine tools, telecommunication equipment and electronic components.
From Acme-Cleveland, Jim joined Primus Venture Partners as Managing Director. Primus Venture Partners manages private equity capital through a series of limited partnerships involving industrial products, telecommunications, software, medical devices and services and outsourced business services. Jim retired from active involvement in Primus Venture Partners in 2003 but remains a member of the Advisory Board.
Jim has served and serves on a number of Boards of Directors, Advisory Boards and non-profit Trusteeships. Among these, he is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Lamson & Sessions, a NYSE listed multi-faceted manufacturer, and he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cleveland Art Museum.
Jim holds a B.A. cum laude from Amherst College and an M.B.A. (with distinction) from the Harvard Business School.
Lee H. Davis
Director, Secretary
Lee Davis is a principal in The Weiss Group, LLC and has over 30 years of broad experience
in energy, real estate and venture investments. He has been associated with the Davis companies since 1969
and serves as Manager of Davis Bros., LLC, where he directs the company’s oil and gas exploration, production,
minerals and real estate activities. Lee is a founder and limited partner of two privately-held institutionally
funded venture capital funds specializing in venture investments in the Southwest region.
Lee received a B.A. in Geology with distinction from the University of Arizona and an M.B.A.
from the University of Tulsa. He is a Certified Professional Geologist.
Gary E. Jacobs
Director
Gary Jacobs is an investor and philanthropist. He is the Managing Director of Jacobs
Investment Company, which participates in real estate development and other investment activities
throughout the United States and abroad. In addition, he has multi-million dollar investments in several
other venture capital funds. He also owns and operates a professional minor league baseball team,
the Lake Elsinore Storm, affiliated with the San Diego Padres.
Gary serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for High Tech High, a public charter high school, and is
a board member of the San Diego Symphony and the UCSD Board of Overseers. Gary's other philanthropic
work includes being a past president of the United Jewish Federation of San Diego County. Additionally,
Gary and his wife created and funded the Gary and Jerri-Ann Jacobs International Teen Leadership Institute
which promotes Muslim / Jewish understanding.
Prior to his current investment and philanthropic activities, Gary worked as a software engineer and
senior education specialist at QUALCOMM, Inc. and as a software programmer at Linkabit Incorporated.
Gary holds a B.A. in Management Science from the University of California at San Diego.
Ernest H. Pomerantz
Director
Ernie Pomerantz is a Managing Director of StoneWater Capital LLC, a specialized
asset management firm based in New York City. Previously he was a Managing Director
of MESA Partners, LLC, and for 20 years he served as a Partner and Managing Director of
Warburg Pincus, working in a range of industries including automotive, energy,
financial services, retail, and media. Prior to this, Pomerantz was a public market
equities portfolio manager and security analyst at both Warburg Pincus and Kuhn Loeb
for 11 years. He has served as a director of a number of public and private companies
and is currently a director of The Cobalt Group, Mobile Productivity Inc, ATX Group Inc.
and Phoenix Houses of Texas.
Ernie served as a US Navy Lieutenant from 1964 to 1969 and holds a B.S. in Management
Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an M. A. in International Relations
from the University of Southern California/London School of
Economics and an M.B.A. from New York University.
Jeremiah B. Robins
Director
Jeremiah Robins is the Chairman and CEO of Great Pond Management Company
(GPMC) which he formed in 1979.
GPMC is a private equity firm whose primary focus is the growth and development of middle market manufacturing companies.
Jere has served as the Chairman and controlling shareholder of the GPMC core holdings and throughout his career has participated in the successful development of companies in such diverse fields as Iron and Steel, Specialty Chemicals, HVAC, and Semiconductor Packaging.
Jere is also currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Thermal Dynamics Corporation (TDX), a manufacturer of specialty heat exchangers for the North American OE Automotive and Industrial markets. TDX maintains sales, engineering and manufacturing facilities in both the U.S. and the Peoples Republic of China.
Additionally, he is the Chairman of Rotation Dynamics Corporation (Rotadyne) a multinational manufacturer of consumables for the commercial printing industry with facilities in North, Central and South America, Eastern and Western Europe, and the Peoples Republic of China.
Jere maintains residences both in San Diego, California and Shanghai, PRC and divides his time equally between the U.S. and China.
Gary L. Weiss
Director
Gary Weiss, founder of The Weiss Group, LLC, has over 30 years of experience in building
and managing technology businesses. The Weiss Group, LLC specializes in assisting growth companies by
providing management, advisory, financing and executive search services. Gary is also currently Chairman
of the Board for GEO2 Technologies, Inc. (GEO2), a company that develops and commercializes products to improve emissions control
performance for internal combustion engines. Previously, he served as President and CEO of Source Services,
a search and recruiting business that grew from $3 million to $80 million in sales while building 140 offices
across the U.S. and Canada, with 480 search professionals. Prior to joining Source Services, Gary held
various positions at Periphonics, (at the time, an Exxon Enterprises Company) and IBM.
Gary received a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Arizona.
