Fallbrook Technologies Inc. (Fallbrook) is a technology development company dedicated to improving mechanical transmission-based products. The Company's core technology is its NuVinciŽ continuously variable planetary (CVP). The award-winning technology has been recognized as revolutionary and is potentially applicable to any product that uses a transmission including bicycles, light electric vehicles, agricultural equipment, automobiles, and wind turbines among others. Fallbrook partners with other companies to commercialize its NuVinci technology and provides design, development and manufacturing support. In addition, it manufactures and markets NuVinci drivetrains for the bicycle and LEV (light electric vehicle) industries. Fallbrook currently holds over 340 patents and pending applications worldwide.

Fallbrook’s NuVinci technology is a scalable and
highly adaptable CVP technology that controls relationships of speed
and torque. The NuVinci transmission uses a set of rotating balls between the input and
output components of a transmission. Tilting the balls changes their contact diameters and varies
the speed ratio. Compared to other current transmission technologies, the NuVinci technology
is less complex, scales and packages more easily, costs less to manufacture, and facilitates achieving
optimum performance. |
